Storm damage cleanup continues – Evanston RoundTable

City crews have been working around the clock since Tuesday evening to clean up debris and deal with hazards throughout Evanston. Forestry staff will be out until 7:00 p.m. this evening and then back at 7:00 a.m. Friday to continue cleaning up debris, tending to fallen trees on homes and cars, and making sure all streets and all sidewalks are passable.

Power failure update: ComEd also worked tirelessly to restore service after 6,000 Evanston customers were without power on Tuesday evening. As of 4 p.m. today, 88 Evanston customers remain without power.

Need assistance? Contact 311: Community members are encouraged to call / text 847-448-4311 or submit a service request online for all non-urgent issues.

Reminders: The owners are responsible for the treatment of private debris and felled trees. ComEd is tasked with fixing any tree-related power line issues before the city’s forestry crews can clean up the debris. Some trees and branches were weakened by the storm and still need to be treated by forestry teams. Please do not enter the areas that have been demarcated for security reasons.

Better days are ahead: After a stormy week, the weather forecast for this weekend is looking good.
